Parkinson’s in the Movement Class: Awareness, Adaptation & Confidence

  • This interactive session blends theory and practice to give Medau teachers greater confidence in supporting participants with Parkinson’s disease, particularly those in the early stages who may already be attending general or chair-based classes.
  • The session will start with an accessible overview of what Parkinson’s is, how it affects movement, balance, mood and cognition, and why regular, purposeful movement is now recognised as one of the most powerful tools for managing symptoms and supporting long-term function.
  • We’ll then move together, sampling exercises from Maria’s Reach Your Peak classes that can be adapted for both standing and seated participants, showing how familiar Medau principles of natural, flowing movement translate beautifully for this population.
  • The session will close with an open Q&A to explore practical ways to weave these ideas into your existing sessions, so every mover in your class feels safe, seen and suitably challenged.
