A wonderful Day of Medau

First Hertfordshire Medau Movement Active Workshop

There were smiles all round at Hertfordshire Medau’s first active workshop at the end of April when Lois Palmer and Lynn Henderson welcomed 25 people, (10 of whom were new to Medau) to Welwyn Garden City, to take part in a two hour introduction to Medau movement.

With teachers Frances Judd and Chris Arscott there in support, things got off to a brisk start as workshop instructor Lois gave a brief history of the origins of Medau plus a thorough warm-up and time spent exploring the basic use of the ball. This was followed by sessions with the hoop and club when participants really started to relax as they experienced both the rhythmical quality of Medau’s unique movements and its more playful side evident in group and partner work.

Refreshments were served at the end of the morning with time for completion of feedback forms and follow-up discussion with teachers and newly made friends alike. After four months’ intense preparation, organisers Lois and Lynn felt the event had been very well received and they now look forward with optimism to new recruits discovering the magic of Medau at future classes across Hertfordshire
